Blackbird will be released alongside NTE Version 1.4: For Whom the Verses Mourn on September 30, 2026.
Version | Character | Type | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
1.4 Phase 1 | Blackbird | New | September 30, 2026 |

1.4 Phase 2 |
Akane Rin | New | Expected later in Version 1.4 |

Blackbird is primarily designed as an on-field Psyche Main DPS, but she is not simply a damage-focused carry. Her kit combines Instant Cycle mechanics, enemy marking, coordinated attacks, and team buffs, giving her multiple ways to contribute during a rotation.
Her defining mechanic is Witch of Deliverance. By using her Ultimate, Blackbird enters a special combat state with increased mobility and Control immunity while also increasing the entire team's ATK. The transformation timer can pause while she is off-field, allowing players to rotate between teammates during her burst window.

Blackbird's gameplay revolves around marking enemies, triggering coordinated attacks, and entering Witch of Deliverance for burst damage.

Blackbird performs up to five consecutive attacks, dealing Psyche DMG.

Her Charged Attack can be used to activate Roostcall, which provides additional utility by slowing the target. This makes her normal attack string useful for both damage and setting up her rotation.

Blackbird's Skill deals Psyche damage and applies the Forsaken Feather mark to the target.
When a teammate attacks an enemy carrying Forsaken Feather, Blackbird can trigger Forsaken Bird, a coordinated attack that deals AoE Psyche damage.
This is an important part of her rotation because Blackbird does not need to remain on the field for all of her damage. Once the target has been marked, switching to another teammate can continue triggering her coordinated attacks.

Requies Animarum is the core of Blackbird's combat kit.
After casting her Ultimate, Blackbird transforms into the Witch of Deliverance, dealing a large amount of Psyche DMG. The transformation also provides Control immunity and increased Movement Speed, while increasing the entire team's ATK.
The transformation timer can pause while Blackbird is off-field, meaning players can temporarily switch to another character without immediately wasting the transformation duration.

While transformed, Blackbird's normal attacks change into a more aggressive flame-based attack sequence.
Her Witch form is designed to function as her primary burst window, allowing her to concentrate a large amount of damage into a relatively short rotation.
This is also where her Instant Cycle identity becomes especially important, since the goal is to move quickly between skills, teammates, and Esper Cycle triggers rather than staying in one simple attack loop.

Blackbird can leave Witch of Deliverance by using her follow-up Ultimate, Flammae in Unum, which provides another burst of Psyche damage.
This gives her transformation a clear beginning and ending point, allowing players to structure her rotation around a defined high-damage window.
The most important concept to understand when playing Blackbird is Instant Cycle.
Her kit is designed to accelerate her team's cycle-based combat flow, allowing players to quickly establish marks, trigger coordinated attacks, swap between characters, and enter her Witch form.
Because Psyche can interact with other Esper attributes to create Esper Cycles, Blackbird's team-building potential is closely tied to the other elements in her party.

Blackbird's signature Arc is Crime and Punishment, which is expected to be her primary weapon choice.
Arc | Rarity | Recommendation | Main Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
Crime and Punishment | S-Class | Best-in-slot candidate | Designed for Blackbird |
High ATK Arc | S-Class | Recommended alternative | Improves overall damage |
CRIT-focused Arc | S-Class | Recommended alternative | Supports CRIT-based DPS builds |
Since Blackbird has not yet been fully released at the time of writing, the exact comparison between Crime and Punishment and alternative Arcs should be made after her final live stats are available.
For a preliminary DPS build, players can prioritize offensive stats such as CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK%, and Psyche DMG.
A practical early priority is:
CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG > ATK% > Psyche DMG > other offensive stats
The current best theoretical Module set for Blackbird is Devil's Blood: Curse, a Psyche-focused set that directly supports her Main DPS role and reaction-based playstyle.
| Devil's Blood: Curse | |
|---|---|---|
2-Piece | Psyche DMG +10% | |
4-Piece | DMG +18%; against enemies affected by Nova or Stain, this DMG bonus increases to 36% | |
This set is a strong fit for Blackbird because she primarily deals Psyche DMG, while her team can consistently trigger Stain through Psyche + Lakshana combinations or Nova through Psyche + Chaos. This allows her to take full advantage of the 4-piece effect during her main damage windows.
For Module stats, prioritize
CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > ATK% > Psyche DMG / Universal DMG.
Higher-value Type II, III, and IV Modules should be prioritized where possible, while filling the Console slots to activate the complete 4-piece set. Blackbird's preferred Module Types have not yet been confirmed, so these recommendations should be considered pre-release theorycrafting.
Blackbird can be built around several different reaction and rotation styles.
Blackbird |
Acarine |
Haniel |
Faelia |
|---|
This is a Stain-focused team built around Blackbird's Psyche damage and reaction mechanics. Blackbird acts as the main DPS, while Acarine works with her to maintain the team's reaction cycle. Haniel and Faelia provide additional support and help keep the rotation smooth, allowing Blackbird to focus on her coordinated attacks and Witch of Deliverance burst window.
Blackbird |
Acarine |
Aurelia |
Haniel |
|---|
This lineup offers another way to build around Blackbird and Acarine while adding Aurelia and Haniel for additional team support. The team focuses on maintaining a stable rotation and giving Blackbird enough support to maximize her Psyche damage and transformation-based burst.
Blackbird is an S-Class Psyche Main DPS coming with NTE Version 1.4 on September 30, 2026. Her biggest features are the Instant Cycle mechanic, coordinated attacks, Witch of Deliverance transformation, and team-wide ATK buff, giving her a playstyle centered on short, high-impact rotations.
Her signature Crime and Punishment is the main Arc to watch, while Akane Rin, Haniel, and other Psyche-supporting characters may become important partners depending on which Esper Cycle you want to build around. Since Blackbird is not yet fully live, her final damage values and optimal team rotations should be confirmed after release.
