You have choices between Ruan Mei and Luocha or any of the standard banner characters in this event. About Stellar Companions
Stellar Companions is an event that, as mentioned before, allows you to get five-star characters. It works on a barter system, whereby you will have to exchange the Golden Companion Spirit for any one of the five-star characters or exchange it for two Variable Dice. The event lasts from version 3.2 till the end of version 3.4. You do, therefore, have time to decide. To unlock this event, you must be at least at Trailblazer Level 4 and unlock the Travel Log.
If you have not checked out the event already, here are the five-star characters that are available in this event:
- Ruan Mei
- Luocha
- Bailu
- Yanqing
- Gepard
- Clara
- Welt
- Bronya
- Himeko
You have all characters to choose from, it is your choice. Of course, you could exchange one Golden Companion Spirit for two Variable Dice to get that one relic you wanted. The rest of the guide will advise on the different characters and what you can do with them given the present stance of the game. It will also consider 'power creeping' in Honaki: Star Rail.
Acquiring Golden Companion Spirits
To get the five-star characters or for the variable dice, you will need Golden Companion Spirits. Each Golden Companion Spirit can be exchanged for a five-star character. So, how to get a Golden Companion Spirit? You can obtain a Golden Companion Spirit in three different ways. The methods are:
- Participating in any limited-time event from Honkai: Star Rail version 3.2 to version 3.4. This method is the easiest and gets you one Golden Companion Spirit.
- By participating in the limited-time event, Cherished Recollection during version 3.2 of the game. In this method, you will have to buy Honkai Star Rail Oneiric Shards. You will receive one Golden Companion Spirit if you have accrued or topped up 18000 Oneiric Shards.
- By having E6 five-star characters. With a maxed-out character, if you get more Eidolons, it gets converted into a Silver Companion Spirit in a 1:1 ratio. You can use two Silver Companion Spirits to exchange for 1 Golden Companion Spirit. Silver Companion Spirits will be awarded to you if you had Eidolons prior to version 3.2.
Out of these three methods, only method one seems viable for the dolphin players. So, choose the character wisely.
Which Character to Choose? What To Do with the Golden Companion Spirit?
First and foremost, understand that not all characters might work with your existing team. Also, some characters might become obsolete due to power creeping in Honkai: Star Rail. With most of the players having at most two shots at this event, choose the character wisely.
Choosing Ruan Mei
Ruan Mei is a great choice. If you have a break team or Firefly in your main lineup, choose Ruan Mei. She possesses one of the game's most potent ults. Ruan Mei is one of the best support characters you can get for your team in the present situation. Especially if you build her as a DMG support for your team, you will be unstoppable.
Choosing Luocha
Luocha is a decent healer in the present situation of the game. He can heal, dispel, direct healing, and AoE heal. But, is he worth it? There are better sustains in the game. Luocha only focuses on healing, nothing else. So, with characters like Aventurine and Gallagher, you have to choose whether you want a character who solely focuses on healing or a sustain? The decision is yours!
Choosing Any of the Five Stars from the Standard Banner
The other seven characters are decent. These characters are decent, but not great. Moreover, they are available on the Standard Banner, Stellar Warp. If there is a character you stan from the seven, go for it! Pick the character you like out of the lot. But, ultimately the majority of these characters are victims of power creeping.
- Bailu - She is decent, but other characters have outscaled her. Also, with the choice of Luocha, who is a better healer, why choose Bailu?
- Gepard - Again, Gepard is good, but when you have Luocha why would you choose him?
- Yanqing - He was a solid DPS at the start of the game. But, as it stands right now, he is outclassed by all the other DPS characters in the game.
- Clara - She is a good pick out of the bunch. If you are looking for a countering damage or follow-up attack type of character, pick Clara.
- Bronya - A good pick if you are looking for CRIT or solid support, then go for her.
- Himeko - She might be the best character from the standard five-star characters. Himeko is a very sturdy DPS build. So, if you want her go for it!
- Welt - He is a decent sub-DPS or a slow sustain character. Going for him is decent, but make sure you have a team that requires him.
Saving Up the Golden Companion Spirit
To be candid, how many players have an E6 five-star player? Chances are you do not have a character like that lying around. This means that you have a maximum of one Golden Companion Spirit. You have to make it count. Given the situation, the roaster to select from is not bad, but not great. So, you could hold on to the Golden Companion Spirit for some time.
Why would anyone make this decision? Mainly because of two conditions of the event given by miHoYo. One is that the Golden Companion Spirit is not a limited-time object. It can come again in the foreseeable future after version 3.4. Moreover, the second condition says more characters will join the roster in future updates. So, choose wisely.
