Yingying's Clever Escape is the 01 Jianghu Legacy Lost Chapter in Where Winds Meet. It plays out inside the Kaifeng Imperial Palace and unfolds as a storybook sequence — you rewrite how Yingying escaped by jumping between two versions of the tale.
The quest mixes stealth, puzzle-solving, combat, and a brief turret-defense section. It rewards 20 Echo Jade, 565 Enlightenment Points, 22,500 Character EXP, and the Drafting a Heroic Tale inscription. This walkthrough covers every step, every puzzle solution, and the common failure points.

Location: Qingshou Hall, Kaifeng Imperial Palace, Kaifeng City.
Type: Lost Chapter (Jianghu Legacy 01).
Level requirement: Available after reaching Kaifeng in the main story.
Enter Qingshou Hall and speak with Xiangpu. She narrates the original version of Yingying's escape and asks you to retell the story. Interact with the storybook on the nearby table to begin. The quest splits into two storybook parts: Part 1 follows the original tale (Grandmaster rescues Yingying), and Part 2 rewrites it (Yingying saves the Grandmaster). Both parts must complete before the quest concludes.
Select the dialogue option: "Tell Yingying to come with the Grandmaster." The wrong option loops the dialogue. Select the Grandmaster option to advance.
A wooden door blocks the corridor. Jump to the far side of the door to reach the interior. The opening mechanism sits on the inside wall. Activate it to unlock the door.
Two to three guards patrol the corridor beyond the door. Standard palace guard enemies with swords. Attack patterns are basic horizontal slashes with a telegraphed wind-up. Parry or dodge the wind-up and counter.
Yingying stops at a courtyard section. A Horse Stance prompt appears. Perform the stance beside her to continue. Hold the stance for the full duration.
Yingying breaks her ankle during the escape sequence. The Grandmaster lifts her onto his back. A brief cutscene shows the escape from the palace gates. The young master interrupts the story here. He and Xiangpu agree the original tale makes Yingying too passive and decide to rewrite it with Yingying as the rescuer.
The story resets. Roles reverse. The Grandmaster gets captured inside the palace. Yingying infiltrates to free him.
Yingying enters a room with a single patrolling guard outside. Wait for the guard to walk past the doorway. Do not move while the guard's line of sight crosses the door. The detection window is roughly 2 seconds of continuous visibility. Brief line-of-sight breaks do not trigger detection. The guard walks right-to-left in roughly 8-second cycles. Move when he reaches the far-left end of his path.
A ghost patrols the lakeside path. The evasion sequence has three phases. First, jump into the lake immediately — the ghost does not detect objects below the waterline. Second, wait for the ghost to pass (its patrol loops counter-clockwise). Third, climb onto the boat on the far shore and jump to solid ground. Do not attempt to sneak past on land. The ghost's detection radius covers the entire path.
After crossing the lake, the ghost catches up. An onion item appears in your quick-use slot. Use it to drive the ghost away. The game provides the onion automatically.
Enter the underground tunnel. Follow the linear path forward. No branching routes or hidden turns.
The tunnel floor is lined with pressure-triggered bombs. Each pulses red before detonating. Walk between them. If you trigger a bomb, you take scratch damage — roughly 5-8% of your health bar per explosion. The section is designed to be forgiving. Do not restart if you hit one.
A bow spawns on the ground. Pick it up. Three powder kegs line the far wall. Shoot each one to clear debris blocking the exit. The bow has zero draw time and infinite ammo for this section.
The Grandmaster sits inside a hanging cage. The rope holding the cage runs to a ceiling pulley. Shoot the rope. The cage drops but does not open on impact. Walk to the switch on the left wall and activate it to unlock the cage door.
Pursuers flood into the chamber. Pick up the crossbow near the freed Grandmaster. Wave composition: 8-10 palace guards in groups of 2-3. The crossbow fires with zero reload time. The magazine holds 30 bolts and refills between waves. Shoot the closest guard first. Bodies do not block bolts. The section ends after four waves.
Draw the "sword" — actually a digging tool — and break through the packed earth wall at the far end of the chamber. This completes the escape.
After both storybook parts, control returns to Qingshou Hall. Speak with Xiangpu. She shares her thoughts on the revised version. The storybook plays Yingying's escape in its final, combined form as a cutscene.
