Once Human Beast Riding is now live following the September 16 (PT) Version 3.0.6 update. The Beastmaster class has received a major overhaul, adding new riding mechanics, animal abilities, updated summoning rules, and improvements to the animal ranching system.
If you want to know how Beast Riding works, which animals you can ride, how to find and manage animals, and how the new Energy and breeding systems work, this guide from TOPUPlive covers the key details.
The new Beast Riding system expands the Beastmaster class with new ways to summon, ride, command, and manage animals.
Beastmasters can summon animals from their backpack or hotbar, recall them by using the same item again, and command them with the Beast Whistle. Summoning has a 10-second shared cooldown, and only adult animals with more than 20% Energy can be summoned.
There are two ways to ride animals. Bareback Riding consumes character Stamina, and unsaddled animals can resist the rider or attempt to break free. Saddle Riding provides a more stable experience and allows Beastmasters to use the animal's special abilities.

While riding with a saddle, players can fire weapons, perform melee attacks, gather resources, interact with objects, use consumables, and use Deviation abilities. Actions such as teleporting, switching worlds, or opening weapon crates will automatically dismount the player.
The current rideable animals are Deer, Boar, Bear, and Wild Buffalo. Each provides different benefits when used with a saddle.
Animal | Passive Skill | Active Skill |
Deer | Faster riding Movement Speed. Increases Weapon DMG and Status DMG based on Movement Speed, up to 37.5%. | Greatly increases Movement Speed for 12 seconds. |
Boar | Takes 20% of DMG in place of the rider and gains Damage Reduction. | Charges forward and gains Damage Reduction when hitting enemies. |
Bear | Increases the rider’s Weapon DMG and Status DMG by 20% and gains Damage Reduction. | Releases a shockwave that deals damage and increases the rider’s Weapon DMG and Status DMG. |
Wild Buffalo | Can obtain Milk when devouring crops. | Finds nearby edible crops and eats them to recover Energy. |
Finding the right animals is an important part of the Beastmaster system. Players can use Resource Tracking on the map to locate animals and check where they can be found.

Beastmasters can approach animals to inspect their Stats and Traits. Through the Beast Partner system, they can check an animal's attributes and traits without immediately causing it to flee or attack.
Energy is important in the updated animal system. Adult animals need more than 20% Energy to be summoned, and players can restore Energy through the feeding interface. The update also adds manual feeding for summoned animals, although animals in the ranching state inside a Territory do not support manual feeding.
The animal ranching system has also been redesigned alongside Beast Riding. Tameness and Hydration have been removed, while Energy now affects animal growth, breeding, byproduct production, and slaughter rewards.

Energy | Animal Status |
🟢80–100% | Efficient byproduct production, larger slaughter rewards, normal growth, and ready for breeding. |
🟡20–80% | Normal production and growth, but not ready for breeding. |
🔴0–20% | Production and growth are paused, and the animal cannot breed. |
Beastmasters can also craft gene items for targeted gene modification and improve animal traits through breeding and exploration.

From the September 16 update until the September 28 (PT) update, Beastmasters are temporarily limited to one summoned animal at a time. After the September 28 update, this limit is scheduled to increase to three animals. Non-Beastmaster classes have a simultaneous summon limit of one animal.
