How to Build the Alliance HQ in Whiteout Survival (2025 Update)

In Whiteout Survival, the Alliance Headquarters (HQ) is the central building that anchors an alliance's territory and unlocks its most powerful features. Building an HQ lets your alliance control map regions, gain resource bonuses, and block enemy teleportation into your zone. The first (Icefield) Alliance HQ costs no alliance resources to erect, so it should be placed as early as possible to claim territory. A second HQ can later be built in the tundra once your alliance has researched the requisite technology.

This guide explains the full construction process and requirements for both HQs, covers new mechanics from the 2025 updates, and offers strategic advice on placement, member roles, and timing.

What is an Alliance

The Alliance HQ sits at the heart of your banner network and passively collects resources from all encompassed nodes. The first HQ you build is the Icefield HQ (placed on the basic map terrain). Later, once you research the necessary Alliance Tech, you can build a second Tundra HQ on tundra terrain. The Tundra HQ is expensive – it costs about 700,000 food, 700,000 wood, 400,000 coal and 200,000 iron from your alliance pool.

Stockpile these resources in advance, then have your R5 place the new HQ near your planned expansion area. (For example, top alliances often position the new HQ near a stronghold or high-tier resource nodes to capitalize on richer nodes and closer facility access.) After relocating to the tundra, remember to dismantle and rebuild your Alliance Bear Hunt Trap next to the new HQ so your alliance can continue participating in the event.

Expanding Your Territory with Alliance Banners

After the HQ is placed, use Alliance Banners to stretch your territory outward. Each banner creates a 7×7 tile area of influence and must overlap with your HQ or another banner to connect new territory. Place banners strategically so that critical resource locations or facilities fall inside your borders.

For instance, you may build a chain of banners toward nearby strongholds or mineral nodes before attempting to attack them. Upgrading alliance tech (Territory tree) can increase the maximum number of banners you can deploy. Always maintain a continuous path of territory to any facility you wish to capture, as this connectivity is required to initiate an assault.

Unlocking the Tundra HQ and Later Upgrades

The Tundra HQ becomes available only after investing in alliance research. In the Growth-tech tree, reach the “Tundra Surveying” project (which requires a prior upgrade like Alliance Regimentation II). Once Tundra Surveying is researched, the R5 can place the Tundra HQ on a designated tundra tile. This greatly expands your map area (into the fogged tundra regions) and taps rich resource nodes.

Due to its high cost, coordinate with alliance officers to gather the needed alliance resources. Building or upgrading HQs takes time; use alliance help requests to speed this up (see below).

Using Alliance Help and 2025 Updates

To accelerate construction, use the Alliance Help feature: request aid and have fellow members chip away at the timer. Each help reduces the remaining build time, and higher alliance tech levels allow more helps per building or research project. Encourage all active members to contribute resources toward alliance tech – growth and territory tech in particular – so you unlock features like more banner slots, higher Gathering Node caps, etc. Finally, note that the March 2025 update added an Alliance Log feature. The log displays any attacks on alliance buildings (including your HQ) and the start of any destruction, allowing your alliance to react quickly to enemy raids.

By coordinating your alliance – meeting the HQ prerequisites, planning the location, supplying resources, and linking banners – you’ll firmly establish your Alliance HQ and territory. This central base will then continually provide strategic bonuses and resources to help your alliance dominate on the frozen map.

Conclusion

Building the Alliance Headquarters is a core aspect of advanced gameplay in Whiteout Survival, requiring meticulous planning and team coordination. Every step is crucial - from meeting alliance level and research requirements to managing resource allocation and member role assignments.

Beyond the basic construction process, new mechanics introduced in recent updates (such as faster enemy banner ignition speed and shortened event cycles) demand adaptive strategies. By strategically positioning the HQ in resource-rich zones, clearly defining R5 and R4 responsibilities, and timing upgrades and battles optimally, your Alliance HQ will become an impregnable stronghold for faction development. This foundation will continuously provide tactical advantages and resource benefits to all alliance members.
