Duo Hunters Mode

Duo Hunters mode, or Pack Hunter or 2v8, is a new form of the 1v4 horror gameplay by having two Hunters against eight Survivors. This mode needs even better coordination and good planning from both Hunters and Survivors. This type is the reason you're even reading this article in the first place. Before we get to the details, keep in mind that this mode is available only during some select hours of the day, so it is good to plan before playing.

Matches in Duo Hunters also add many new game rules. Survivors can now take three hits instead of two before going down, making a longer and more suspenseful chase possible. Both sides also earn points that can be spent at Phone Booths found in the map to get useful items. Players can also buy Identity V Echoes to unlock cosmetics or characters, adding more variety to the experience. These purchases add an economy system to the game, forcing players to make decisions about when and how to use their resources.

Game Plans

For Hunters

One tactic some hunters use is “double teaming”. In this both hunters go after the same survivor. It can be good if you're targeting an important survivor. Taking them out early puts the whole Survivor team back. Many players see it as unfair. Still, in top-tier matches, it's sometimes used.

A better and more respected way is splitting up roles. One Hunter focuses on chasing and putting pressure on Survivors, while the other handles map controls. This way, you're covering more ground and forcing the Survivors to stay alert, knowing they could run into a Hunter at any time.

Knowing the map well is also good. The maps in Duo Hunters are much bigger, so you can't waste time. You and your partner need to learn good paths and know which cipher areas survivors will enter.

If both Hunters try to camp the same Survivor, you end up losing speed. A better plan is to take turns: one Hunter follows someone while the other keeps pressure on the rest of the team.

For Survivors

Focus on decoding ciphers. This is still your main goal. But in Duo Hunters, you need to decode more ciphers, and it takes longer. Try to decode with teammates whenever you can to speed things up and earn more points. Those points will help you buy useful items later from phone booths.

Use phone booths smartly. As the match goes on, you'll find phone booths around the map. You can spend the points you earn on items like Smoke Bottles to hide from Hunters or Black Mud to slow them down. If only four Survivors are left or all the ciphers are done, you might find a Crowbar, which lets you open the Dungeon early for a fast escape.

Conclusion

This mode is all about fast decisions, teamwork, and staying cool. With more players on both sides, every match will be bigger and more of a challenge. You might be trying all sorts of different things, but thinking ahead will make all the difference. Play smart and support your team, and you'll find this mode both challenging and incredibly fun.
