| HSR 4.0 Elation Path Explained
As the first character of the Elation Path, understanding Yao Guang's skills requires first learning about the unique features of the Elation Path itself.
Like characters of the Remembrance Path, Elation Path characters possess an exclusive new mechanic—Elation Skill. Elation Path characters share a powerful synergy with Aha, the Aeon of Elation. In combat, this synergy manifests as Aha appearing as a unit on the action timeline. Aha has its own base speed and can act just like a regular character, similar to Jing Yuan's Lightning-Lord and Lingsha's Fuyuan.
When Aha takes action, it inflicts a special state on all Elation Path characters on the field, and makes them unleash one instance of Elation Skill, dealing Elation Damage. This damage type is linked to two unique attributes of Elation Path characters: Punchline and Elation.
| HSR 4.0 Yao Guang Kit
Basic ATK
Whistlebolt Sings Joy
Deals Physical DMG equal to 90% of Yao Guang's ATK to one designated enemy and Physical DMG equal to 30% of Yao Guang's ATK to enemies adjacent to it. Increases Energy regenerated from Basic ATK.
Skill
Decalight Unveils All
Deploys a Zone for 3 turn(s). The Zone's remaining duration is reduced by 1 at the start of this unit's turn. While the Zone is active, increases the Elation of all allies by an amount equal to 15% of Yao Guang's Elation. After using Basic ATK or Skill, Yao Guang gains 3 Punchline(s).
Ultimate
Hexagram of Feathered Fortune
Gains 5 Punchline(s). Aha immediately gains 1 extra turn where a fixed amount of 20 Punchline(s) is taken into account. This turn, does not consume Punchline(s), and increases all allies' All-Type RES PEN by 20% for 3 turn(s).
Talent
Behold Wherever Light Unfolds
When Yao Guang possesses "Certified Banger", ally targets will trigger the "Great Boon" effect after using an attack, dealing additional Elation DMG of the corresponding Type equal to 24% to 1 random hit target. For every 1 Skill Point consumed during this attack, trigger the "Great Boon" effect 1 extra time, up to 3 times per attack.
When triggering "Great Boon," if the attacker's Elation is lower than Yao Guang's, this instance of Elation DMG is calculated using Yao Guang's Elation.
Triggering "Great Boon" is not considered as an attack.
Technique
Untethered Glimmer Sails Far
After using the Technique, automatically triggers Skill 1 time at the start of the next battle without consuming any Skill Points. When Yao Guang is in the team, breaking destructible objects immediately grants "Red Envelope," up to 8 within every Earth Week.
Elation Skill
Let Thy Fortune Burst in Flames
Inflicts "Woe's Whisper" on all enemies, lasting for 3 turn(s). Increases DMG received by enemy targets under the "Woe's Whisper" state by 10%. Deals Physical Elation DMG equal to 80% to all enemies. Afterward, deals Physical Elation DMG equal to 20% to one random enemy 5 time(s).
Bonus Ability
1. Amaze-In Grace
When Yao Guang's SPD is 120 or higher, increases this unit's Elation by 30%. For every 1 points of SPD exceeded, increases this unit's Elation by 1%, up to 200 points of excess SPD.
2. Poised and Sated

| HSR 4.0 What is Yao Guang's Role Positioning
Now that we have learned about the Elation Path and Yao Guang's skill mechanics, we can draw a conclusion regarding her role positioning: Based on current information, Yao Guang is positioned as a support character for Elation teams.
| HSR 4.0 Yao Guang Pull Recommendation
For the next two to three patches, Yao Guang's position as the sole support in Elation teams is unshakable. If you pull for Yao Guang in Version 4.0, you can directly pair her with a powerful DPS to form a formidable Elation team in the Anniversary event, and maintain its dominance for at least one full major patch. However, the risk that comes with this reward is that after the team is initially finalized, a more powerful support may be introduced to replace Yao Guang. Therefore, it is recommended to pull for Yao Guang’s base form in Version 4.0; if you have extra resources, you can go for her lightcone, but avoid any further investments afterward.
| Conclusion
As the first character for the Elation team, Yao Guang is positioned as a support unit—much like Ruan Mei in Break teams and Tribbie in Remembrance teams. She can grant Elation and RES PEN to all characters on the field. Additionally, her Ultimate allows Aha to gain an extra turn.
However, she also comes with several notable drawbacks. As the first support character of the Elation Path, her supportive stats are overly conservative. Moreover, apart from granting Aha an additional action, she lacks any of the utility features typical of Harmony characters, such as enabling immediate actions for allies or providing Energy Regeneration. She is heavily reliant on her Ultimate, yet her Max energy is as high as 180. Even when equipped with an Energy Regeneration Rope, a significant Energy deficit still remains. Currently, there are no characters in the game that can reliably restore her Energy to match her needs.
More importantly, characters with similar roles—Ruan Mei and Tribbie—were both replaced by newer, more team-synergistic units a few patches after their respective team comps were fully optimized. For this reason, players should adopt a rational mindset when considering whether to pull for Yao Guang.
Of course, all the above conclusions are based on the current Test Server v1. There are still at least four more test server updates to come, so Yao Guang's pull recommendation may be adjusted accordingly with future changes.
