Although Ye Shunguang still has quite a few bugs on the test server, the overall framework of his kit is already clear:
Activating his Ultimate enters the [Sword Stance].
He stacks Crit Rate through Normal Attacks and gains Damage Bonus through his Passive.
He then finishes with an EX Special Skill, consuming Fighting Spirit to unleash a burst.
All burst damage must be executed while in the [Sword Stance].
After entering the [Sword Stance], he also activates his unique status, “Aether Veil.”
The real effect of Aether Veil is actually very straightforward: it simply treats any enemy that is not stunned as “Stunned.”

Overall, Ye Shunguang’s signature W-Engine doesn’t really have a suitable lower-tier alternative. The Crit Rate provided by Steel Cushion offers only a small increase for him and is also difficult to trigger effectively.
As a main push unit with high damage potential, I highly recommend pulling for Ye Shunguang’s signature W-Engine.
| ZZZ 2.5-Best Drive Disc Set For Ye Shunguang
Version 2.5 will also introduce two new Drive Disk Sets——“White Water Ballad” and “Shining Aria.” From the description, we can tell that the former set is designed for Ye Shunguang. However, what’s confusing is that Ye Shunguang doesn’t actually lack Crit Rate, and the amount of Crit Rate provided by the new Drive Disk set is fairly small, making it seem not particularly suitable for her.
In the current test build, V2.5.2, if you are pulling for her signature W-Engine, I would actually recommend using Puffer Electro x4 + Branch & Blade Song x2 for Ye Shunguang instead, taking advantage of the high PEN Ratio to achieve higher damage output.

1. Dreambound Self
Upon entering the battlefield, gain 6 Qingming Sword Force. This effect can trigger once every 180s in Investigation Zone mode.
The Unity effect from Core Passive: Burning Clarity increases DMG dealt by an additional 10%, and they ignore 20% of the target's DEF.
2. Light & Shadow
The max stack count of Bearer increases to 6, and Culmination can stack up to 9 times. While in the Enlightened Mind state, each point of Qingming Sword Force consumed grants 1 stack of Culmination. EX Special Attack: Enlightened Mind - Soaring Light's DMG ignores 40% of the target's DEF.

6. Lantern Wish
Upon entering the battlefield, gain 2 stacks of Lantern Wish. Whenever Enlightened Mind is entered, gain 1 stack of Lantern Wish, stacking up to 4 times. With 3 stacks of Lantern Wish, EX Special Attack: Enlightened Mind - Return to Dust is replaced with Ultimate: Cleaving Heavens. When this Ultimate: Cleaving Heavens is activated, it consumes 3 stacks of Lantern Wish. The last hit of Enlightened Mind - Return to Dust and Ultimate: Cleaving Heavens deal 1,500% additional Physical DMG.
| Ye Shunguang Pull Priority
I strongly recommend pulling for M2S1, as it greatly boosts damage output and improves gameplay feel. It also makes team composition more flexible, so you’re not forced to pair him with Dialyn—allowing Dialyn to contribute in other teams.
If you don’t have enough pulls, I suggest going for M0S1 or M0. M0 Ye Shunguang paired with Zhao and Dialyn still has a fairly complete and self-consistent kit, but from another perspective, it locks you into a less flexible team composition.
In the current version (V2.5.2), the priority for pulling Ye Shunguang’s MC and signature weapon is as follows:
M2S1 > M0S1 > M1S0
| Ye Shunguang Team Compositions
In most situations, Ye Shunguang + Zhao + Dialyn is the strongest team composition.
Ye Shunguang is quite flexible in the current version, allowing for multiple team options. You may choose to pull for M2S1, replace Dialyn with Astra Yao, and run Ye Shunguang + Zhao + Astra Yao.
Alternatively, you can replace Zhao with another support unit, such as Ye Shunguang + Nicole + Astra Yao.
There is also another approach: if you have M1 Rina along with Ye Shunguang’s signature W-Engine, you can raise your PEN Ratio to about 85%, which approaches true-damage levels.
